Victoria, Australia: A MUST READ-Transcript of audio recording of WT letter read to all Victoria congs Oct/Nov. 2011 re: Working With Children Act
by AndersonsInfo insee www.jwnews.net, steven unthank's private blog site where he posted the following material.
i enlarged and put in bold the third paragraph of the wt's letter where the elder, an ex-bethelite, made some fascinating errors while reading the letter by using the words, "borg" and "perp.
" does this mean what i think it means?

Today's text 22 April 2011 Stay thick!!
by punkofnice ini saw todays text(tm) and it was obvious bait and switch!.
it was banging on about listening to the holy spirit (a good thing if you believe in it), and then they used these sickifying words:.
''we do not need extensive formal education in order to comprehend deep spiritual truths that have been published.''.

They don't miss an opportunity to bash education. A similar thing is mentioned in the intro to the yearbook. The "letter" from the GB.

2005 - The year the Society began its decline (without anyone noticing)!
by cedars ini've just finished an article for randy over on freeminds.org, which i've submitted to him for review.
hopefully it should be online soon, so please keep checking!.
the article discusses the fact that the watch tower society is already in decline, and suggests the year 2005 as the turning point.

Great read Cedars. I appreciate your and Randy's work. Anything that speaks to the end of this harmful organization warms my heart.
My theory: The decline became most visible in 2009. The reduction to one meeting night a week was a colossal change that affected every publisher immediately.
Personally, it lead to my awakening. I was so excited about the extra free night - I just had to think that someone else was discussing this. I googled "one meeting night a week" and ended up here.

What was life like for you as a JW teenager?
by highdose inin the wt's illistrations they portray jw teenagers as happy, together group.
my experinace is that the jw teenagers in the cong were some of the bitchyist backstabbing arse holes i'll ever meet.. it was unheard of for us to engage in group "wholesome activity" as show in the wt's illistrations.
the competition amongst the girls for the handsome, sane and elders sons were cut throat.

My Experience Growing Up in the Watchtower
by Eiben Scrood ini thought i'd relate my experience here.
can others relate to it?
does it sound familiar?.

This resonated Eibeen. I was so infuriated when I woke up. All those teenage years feeling guilty because all I did was think about girls. Its such a head game they play with you. It's preposterous and unnatural to ask young boys to not think about sex.

He's Trying to get me to come back to the fold...by admitting the faults of the Watchtower
by PYRAMIDSCHEME inmy firend (who is an elder) recently sent the email below trying to get me to come back.
he freely admits the faults of the wt and even goes on to say that even if they did not have gods holy spirit, he felt they would still have gods blessing as the one true religion.
i thought i would get your thoughts on this as it really is (sadly) delusional.

This point really angers me. If you expect unquestioning 100% obedience. Then you better be right 100% of the time. And don't show me biblical examples. Once a GB member gets his own book of the Bible, then we can have that conversation.

i spoke with an elder about university
by MsGrowingGirl20 inhe always tells me that i've adopted him as a father...we're pretty close.
i spoke with him asking for some advice about whether or not to pursue my degree.he, to my surprise, couldn't give me his opinion.he told me that if he tells me how he really feels (he says he has some strong views on the matter) he may be disciplined for 'promoting higher education'....in effect he was telling me to go ahead and pursue my degree but not really saying it.
he asked me to promise him that i'll speak to the presiding overseer and the circuit overseer....i haven't as yet.

Hi MsGrowingGirl20, much sympathy for what you're going through, btw. I understand all too well.
His hands are probably tied. As a servant we were told by our CO that going to college is not necessarly grounds for removal. Nor is it mandatory removal if your kids go. However, if you promote the idea of college in the congregation, you will be removed as a servant.

Hello, I rarely get to post. So, here are some things I've experienced in Witness-land.
1st off. You know, we had a family tragedy. What struck me was how kind everyone in the congregation was. Sisters cooked food. Some bought ready-made dishes. Cards and flowers filled the kitchen table. The congregation genuinely gasped when our loss was announced. Everyone couldnt stop asking about us and hugging us, for weeks on end. Made me real sad -all of it. How I can't be genuine around these folks. And how underneath the layers of cult control - there are some really good people. That can be forgotten sometimes - while we rage against this machine.
I went to a dinner invite. We had a conversation about someone who had done something to me. I mentioned how I would love to get him back - but its not worth it. One of the dinner guests, said "if you could only be a Catholis for a day, huh?" He said it twice. So offensive. I know some Catholics who are the sweetest people you'd ever meet. They've volunteered, they've helped people. I trust them implicitly. Much more than just about any elder I know.
On page 98 of the Bearing Witness book, this statement is made: Charles Taze Russell, an outstanding teacher who took the lead in the preaching work in the late 19th and early 20th centuries" An outstanding teacher, that's all? Can you feel the distancing?
There was an experience, at our convention, of a sister whose dad disassociated. She commented on how the congregation made sure that she was part of another family's weekly bible study and how much she appreciated how everyone surrounded her with support. Can't everyone see the irony? If she had changed religions and her dad didn't - he'd throw her out.
